How to Lose Weight With PMOS

If you've been diagnosed with PMOS, you've probably heard some version of this before:

"Losing weight is harder with PMOS."

While there is some truth to that, it doesn't mean weight loss is impossible.

This is my transformation after my 1st child

As someone with PMOS myself, I understand how frustrating it can feel when you're doing "all the right things" and not seeing the results you expect. The internet is full of conflicting advice, restrictive diets and quick fixes that often leave women feeling more confused than empowered.

The good news? You don't need to cut out entire food groups, spend hours doing cardio or follow an extreme diet to lose weight with PMOS.

Understanding PMOS and Weight Loss

PMOS can affect the way your body regulates hormones and insulin, which may influence appetite, energy levels and how easily you gain or lose weight.

This is often why women with PMOS feel like they have to work harder to achieve the same results.

However, while PMOS can make the journey more challenging, it doesn't change the fundamental principles of fat loss.

Sustainable weight loss still comes from creating habits that help you consistently manage your nutrition, movement, sleep and stress levels.

Focus on Protein First

One of the simplest changes you can make is increasing your protein intake. Protein helps support muscle growth, keeps you feeling fuller for longer and can make it easier to manage hunger throughout the day.

Try including a source of protein at every meal, such as:

  • Greek yoghurt

  • Eggs

  • Chicken

  • Fish

  • Tofu

  • Lean meats

  • Protein shakes

You don't need to be perfect. Just aim to make protein a priority more often.

Strength Training Is Your Friend

Many women with PMOS believe they need endless cardio to lose weight. In reality, strength training should be a key part of your routine. Building muscle helps improve body composition, supports metabolism and often leads to better long-term results than relying on cardio alone. You don't need to train every day either. Even 2-4 structured strength sessions per week can make a huge difference over time.

Stop Chasing Perfection

One of the biggest mistakes I see is women trying to be "perfect" Monday to Friday, only to feel like they've failed after one off plan meal or weekend. The truth is that consistency beats perfection every time. Your progress will come from what you do most of the time, not what you do occasionally. Focus on building habits you can stick to for months, not just a few weeks.

Prioritise Sleep and Stress Management

When life gets busy, sleep and stress are often the first things to suffer. Unfortunately, they can also impact hunger levels, energy, recovery and motivation. You don't need a perfect morning routine or meditation practice.

Start with the basics:

  • Aim for a consistent bedtime

  • Get outside for fresh air and movement

  • Take regular breaks throughout the day

  • Focus on what you can control

Small improvements can have a surprisingly big impact.

Don't Compare Your Journey

PMOS looks different for everyone.

What works for someone else may not work for you.Instead of comparing your progress to others, focus on your own habits, routines and improvements. Celebrate the small wins. More energy.Better workouts.Improved consistency.Feeling stronger. These are all signs that you're moving in the right direction.

Final Thoughts

Living with PMOS doesn't mean you're broken, and it certainly doesn't mean you're destined to struggle forever.

Weight loss may require patience and a slightly different approach, but it is absolutely achievable.

Focus on the basics:

✓ Prioritise protein

✓ Strength train regularly

✓ Stay consistent

✓ Manage stress

✓ Get enough sleep

✓ Be patient with yourself

Remember, lasting results aren't built through perfection. They're built through small actions repeated consistently over time.

Are you ready to start your journey?
